To celebrate our two birthdays and express our mission, Cocoa Cinnamon is participating in the nationwide coffee business ACLU fundraiser organized by Sprudge

Cocoa Cinnamon aims to be a vessel for discourse and democracy.

The company steers clear of specific politics as we aim to create a diverse setting in which people of varied backgrounds, languages, stories, ethnicities and thinking can thrive in our spaces honoring and enjoying our widely varied points of view. We believe that inviting difference strengthens our community and we love to be in spaces that open up our world.

Cocoa Cinnamon’s mission is to create a place for people to enjoy carefully crafted drinks and locally made desserts. Cocoa Cinnamon is open to and aims to invite all people to enjoy our space. We strive to support a sustainable, discursive, democratic and artistic way of being through both commerce and service. We work to do this in various ways including: hiring, purchase decisions, our community coffee program and via the relationships that we build throughout our city and by our giving program.

We have a barista code that each employee keeps. Here’s how we describe The Cocoa Cinnamon Experience to ourselves:
Cocoa Cinnamon is about a way of experiencing, living in and creating the world.  It touches on the wonder of learning a foreign language, thriving in a way that connects across borders and difference.

We provide a space that is unique and aims to draw out the curious and serve as a vessel for discourse. Cocoa Cinnamon professes no politics or religion as we believe it is more powerful to exist in the long tradition of coffee houses being catalyzing places of thought and idea. For that to happen, we aim to invite the most diverse minded group of people possible and don’t impose on anyone what to think or believe.

Everyone is welcome

fundraiser

As part of celebrating our two birthdays (Jan 21 makes 4 years at W Geer and Feb 1 makes 1 year at Hillsborough Rd), we will be contributing $1 per signature coffee or chocolate drink to the American Civil Liberties Union. Please come out and join us from Friday February 3rd through Sunday, February 5th take part!

We need to stand up in the face of the threats we are seeing to our democracy and basic human decency. Will you join us and over 200 other coffee shops and businesses across the country?  This fundraiser was initiated by the coffee blog Sprudge.

In the last 30 days alone together we’ve been able to raise over $550 towards the White Helmets and the Southern Coalition for Social Justice. Let’s stand up for democracy and human rights together!

Sincerely,

Cocoa Cinnamon

Cacao canela no declara ninguna
de pensar or creer.

Libertades Civiles Americanas (America Civil Liberties Union).

$550 dlls. para White Helmets y Southern Coalition for Social Justice.
